Law of parsimony

Called Ockam’s razor (more commonly spelled Occam’s razor), it advises you to seek the more economical solution: In layman’s terms, the simplest explanation is usually the best one. You gain nothing by complicating an explanation without some corresponding increase in its explanatory power.

In my very personal observation, politics in the Philippines as of late is as chaotic as a truckload of unrefined abaca fiber.  In the vernacular, “mas magulo pa kaysa isang trak na hibla ng abaka.” Opinions of regular columnists, political analysts and legal expert vis a vis the sentiments of vloggers literally inundate the pages of daily broadsheets, tabloids and all the available arena in the social and mainstream media. The people at large are left with no option but to just wait and see what will happen next.

Like a sandstorm in the desert where vision is hampered to see what’s on the other side, the political hullabaloo will not last forever.  When the dust finally settles, the people can see who among the aspirants are worthy to rule, serve the people and represent the country in the international community.  People today even in far-flung barangays are well-informed of what’s happening around them in view of the breakthrough in technology. They will surely participate in the coming electoral process with the welfare of the people in mind.

Six months before the 2022 polls is an ample time to think and carefully evaluate who to vote for.  With all the barrage of black propaganda and baseless accusations flooding the web and the mainstream media, we have to resort to analytical thinking.  Do not be cajoled by paid political advertisements, empty promises, sweet talks and tear-jerking drama.  Seriously analyzing the narratives of the contenders is a perfect mental exercise that may lead to our desired results!

In a democratic set-up like ours where there is a free market of ideas, everybody is entitled to give his own opinion regardless of how incongruent it is to the established principles or even if it defies logic. When confronted by a strange political belief like “accepting money being offered by candidates and voting according to your conscience”, just leave it at that.  Do not engage in insensible arguments because it may result to violence or your opinion to the eyes of many may amount to obvious hypocrisy.  Get real!

During election season, dead and resolved issues against aspirant(s) are resurrected and recycled usually by the leftists and the communist-leaning group of people to muddle the electoral process.  Sad to say, they are oftentimes joined by nuns and priests, even bishops who are supposed to fully understand the separation of Church and State provided under our Constitution.  Apparently, they are doing this as a tool to advance their personal interests like what happened in the past. They will of course deny it though the slip is showing! I guess you are aware of the Pajeros given to church officials during the time of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

In the event of confusion as to who is telling the truth, I suggest that you apply the law of parsimony envisioned by a great theologian-philosopher-logician that the “simplest explanation is usually the correct one.”

I was born to write and I believe that’s my calling.  I love writing because it brings me to the realm exclusively of mine. It is also my opinion that “immortality” can be achieved not by searching for the Holy Grail and drinking from it but by living your life worth-writing or writing something worth-reading.  Since I cannot promise you a life worth-writing, I keep myself busy writing something worth-reading.  I am thankful to God for giving me the talent and skill to see life in different perspectives not seen by many and the courage to share it to my readers. This first ever Tutubi Digital News Magazine is a perfect avenue to bring you the many facets of life that you can ponder upon in this time of the pandemic. Enjoy reading all the articles.
