“Tomorrow will never come”

Everybody, unless a non compos mentis, tends to worry about everything – health, finances, work, relationship, station in life, etc. Many of us worry about tomorrow which “never comes anyway because it is always today.” Quoting Eleanor Roosevelt, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a gift that’s why we call it the present.”  Pondering on this, I came to realize how lucky I am to receive more than 25, 915 gifts since I was born and now, I am still longing for more.

I thank the Great Power up there for the gifts of life, of caring friends, of family and everything that goes with it.  Every day that we wake up is a gift that we must use wisely. It should not be squandered aimlessly and without purpose. Truly, there’s knowledge beyond knowledge which is not taught in schools and which can only be learned through constant reading and mental intercourse with the elements of the Universe.

The depth and power of the human mind is unfathomable. They say whatever your mind conceived, you shall receive that’s why cursing and thinking ill of others is proscribed in the Scriptures.  When you use the gift of today for something good, the Universe shall conspire and will give you back what you have given, sometimes tenfold. My 7-year-old granddaughter Bernice must have learned this at an early age because when she was asked by her teacher what she can say about the video shown to them in class, she answered without batting an eyelash, “Teacher, the good things you gave to the world shall be given back to you.”

Last night, while I was surfing the net for news and opinions, I came across the story of an old couple living in the mountain ridge of a very far sitio in Southern Mindanao. They have no electricity, no amenities and simply rely on the running brook beside their humble house for water.  They plant crops for their daily subsistence yet they both appear to be satisfied and happy.  Apparently, they live their lives one day at a time, enjoying the gift of today unlike the people I know who give so much premium to luxury and comfort, totally forgetting the obligations attached to a vow.

Anyway, who am I to judge? I will just listen to that small voice but with great force inside me and let the wheel of Divine Justice do its work. The Force is never late.  It is always on time. I will just relish the gift I receive every time I open my eyes in the morning and give praise to Him who is the author of all.

I was born to write and I believe that’s my calling.  I love writing because it brings me to the realm exclusively of mine. It is also my opinion that “immortality” can be achieved not by searching for the Holy Grail and drinking from it but by living your life worth-writing or writing something worth-reading.  Since I cannot promise you a life worth-writing, I keep myself busy writing something worth-reading.  I am thankful to God for giving me the talent and skill to see life in different perspectives not seen by many and the courage to share it to my readers. This first ever Tutubi Digital News Magazine is a perfect avenue to bring you the many facets of life that you can ponder upon in this time of the pandemic. Enjoy reading all the articles.
