MANILA — Commissioner Rossana Fajardo has officially tendered her resignation from the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), effective December 31, 2025.
In a statement on Friday, Fajardo said she has fulfilled the objectives she set out to achieve upon her appointment, ensuring that the foundational goals of the Commission were met.
“I believe that the investigative and prosecutorial responsibilities will now transition to other agencies, such as the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman, which are better positioned to ensure accountability for contractors and government officials,” Fajardo added.
The outgoing commissioner also highlighted recent legislative efforts, including the prioritization of bills establishing the Independent Commission Against Infrastructure Corruption and the Independent People’s Commission. She expressed confidence that a permanent body with expanded powers would better support the Ombudsman in addressing irregularities in government infrastructure projects.
“It has been a profound honor to serve alongside individuals who are deeply committed to transparency and accountability, dedicating themselves selflessly to the Filipino people. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a collective mission that prioritizes the welfare of our citizens,” Fajardo said.
Her resignation marks the end of a tenure that emphasized institutional integrity and the groundwork for stronger oversight mechanisms in government infrastructure.
