LOS ANGELES. The annual fundraising gala of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is set to honor renowned figures including Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Michael B. Jordan, and Sofia Coppola on October 14, as announced by the museum on Tuesday.

Since its inauguration in 2021, the Academy Museum Gala has emerged as a pivotal fundraising occasion for the Los Angeles cinema museum. In its third iteration this year, the event has received approval from prominent actors’ and writers’ guilds. Amidst ongoing work stoppages, both SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild have placed restrictions on promotional activities for their members.

At the gala, Streep, Winfrey, Jordan, and Coppola will each receive accolades recognizing their distinguished careers. The event is co-chaired by Ava DuVernay, Ryan Murphy, Halle Berry, and museum trustee Eric Esrailian.

Jacqueline Stewart, Director and President of the Academy Museum, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating, “We are thrilled to come together once again for our third annual Academy Museum Gala to commemorate the influence, global resonance, and enduring significance of cinema.”

After experiencing delays over the years, the Academy Museum, designed by Renzo Piano with an investment of $484 million, has established itself as a cultural cornerstone in Los Angeles, attracting up to 700,000 visitors annually.
