Ikinasa ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang 16 units ng Trace Detection System (TDS) sa iba’t ibang daungan sa bansa na isasagawa mula Abril hanggang Mayo 2022.
Ang TDS, o ang NUCTECH TR3000DE, ay isang mahalagang karagdagan sa non-intrusive inspection capability ng Bureau dahil dinisenyo ito upang matukoy ang mga pasabog, narcotics, at droga, ayon sa paliwanag ng BOC.
Matutukoy ang mga ito sa pamamagitan ng sampling ng non-visible trace amounts ng particulates mula sa mga kargo, ayon pa rin sa ahensya.
“The newly-acquired system boasts a throughput of three times more than the traditional systems. The monitoring of the TDS is located at the Customs Operations Center, featured among its wide array of safety, enforcement, and security systems and manned by the ESS (Enforcement and Security Service) personnel,” ayon sa statement.
Naglagay na ang BOC ng tig-dalawang units ng TDS sa Manila International Container Port at sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport at tig-isang unit naman sa Port of Cagayan De Oro, Port of Manila, at sa Customs Anti-Drug Task Force.
Ilalagay ang mga natitirang unit hanggang Mayo ng taong ito, ng tig-dalawang unit sa Port of Cebu at sa Port of Davao, at tig-iisang unit sa Port of Zamboanga, Port of Limay, Port of Subic, Port of Clark, at sa Port of Batangas.
