Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp., along with joint-venture partner, Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), announced that they are working closely with their grantor Toll Regulatory Board to open its CAVITEX C5 Link Flyover Extension (Segment 3A2: Merville to E. Rodriguez) in the next two weeks.
The flyover extension will further extend CAVITEX C5 Link’s 2.2 km operational segment that spans from Merville to Taguig (vice versa) with an additional 1.6km, providing motorists more convenient access to and from Taguig, Pasay, and Paranaque, helping decongest the local roads.
Once opened, the Merville Entry/Exit ramps will be relocated to the new segment, in front of Shell C5 Southlink. Simultaneously, a service tunnel road will also be opened to the public to manage the traffic of motorists coming from West Service Road going to Merville, Pasay, and Paranaque.
CIC is on their last leg of works for this segment, installing traffic signages to help guide motorists on the new traffic flow in the area upon opening. In the pipeline, traffic signalization in the area will be installed for better traffic management.
Meanwhile, construction for CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 2 (CAVITEX to Sucat Interchange) continues in full swing reaching more than 30% completion.
“The CAVITEX C5 Link will span a total of 7.7km and connect to CAVITEX in 2023. This will help reduce travel time by thirty to forty-five minutes for motorists traveling from CAVITEX to Makati, Taguig, and Pasay (vice versa). This project also helps decongest major thoroughfares such as EDSA, MIA Road, etc. benefitting around 50,000 motorists daily,“ said CIC President and General Manager, Mr. Raul L. Ignacio.
In preparation for its opening, CIC also intensifies its campaign to encourage motorists to avail of Easytrip RFID and use it for more seamless travel.
We continue to offer free RFID installation and reloading at our customer service stations in CAVITEX and CAVITEX C5 Link. They may also conveniently reload and monitor our expressways’ traffic conditions by using our latest app, MPT DriveHub. With the help of the app and by using their RFIDs, they would be able to avoid long queues at the cash lane and have a more seamless travel in our expressways” added Ignacio.
Aside from the CAVITEX and CAVITEX C5 Link, the MPTC’s tollways portfolio includes the concessions for the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
