SAN PABLO CITY, Philippines – San Pablo City officially welcomed the holiday season as Christmas trees, parols, and sulo were illuminated in a grand ceremony held yesterday in front of the old Capitol building.
Simultaneous lighting of Christmas decorations brightened key areas across the city, including Rizal Avenue, City Plaza, Balagtas Boulevard, Doña Leonila Park, and other prominent spots. The elegant and nostalgic display of lights, parols, and sulo beautifully captures the warmth and spirit of the traditional Filipino Christmas.
The program featured lively performances by bands and rondallas from Pag-ibig and Pag-asa School for Special Children, Canossa College, and other local schools, whose music and singing delighted the audience and showcased the remarkable talent of young performers in the city.
City Mayor Najie Gapangada led the ceremony, joined by department heads, DepEd officials, An Mercado Alcantara, head in charge of tourism, City Administrator Joseph Marnic de Mesa, Monsignor Jerry Bituon, parish priest of the San Pablo Cathedral, and City Councilors Barbie Diaz and John Adajar.
In his Christmas message, Mayor Gapangada wished the residents a season filled with hope, love, and unity, encouraging everyone to come together and celebrate the joys of Christmas safely with their families and communities.
Residents and visitors are invited to explore the city’s beautifully decorated areas and share in the Christmas festivities with family and friends.
