Magsisilbing “red flag” para sa mga botante sa darating na halalan sa Mayo 9 ang hindi pagdalo ng mga kandidato sa ga public debate, ayon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) nitong Huwebes.
“Not a red flag for Comelec, but red flag for the voters, absolutely. But for the Comelec, we don’t care if they come or not,” ayon kay Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez sa isang online press briefing.
Aniya, maaaring makipag-ugnayan ang mga botante sa mga aspirante upang alamin ang kanilang mga plano at programa para sa bansa kung ang mga kandidato ay lalahok sa mga debate.
“I think it is very important that in recognition of how important it is to the people that we acknowledge that they fail to show up. It is not to be glossed over, not ignored. We are going to have a podium right there with their name on it and no face above it. That’s their lookout,” ayon sa kanya.

Plano ng Comelec na magdaos ng tatlong debate sa presidential at vice presidential. Ang una ay gaganapin ngayong buwan, ang pangalawang kaganapan sa Marso at ang huli ay sa Abril.
