Sa mga susunod na buwan ay mararanasan na ang tag-init kaya naman nakaamba na rin ang dagdag-singil sa mga consumer dahil sa pagtaas ng electric bills.
Ngayong Pebrero ay inaasahang madaragdagan ang singil ng power utility giant Manila Electric Company (Meralco) sa mga costumer nito.
Ayon kay Meralco Vice President Joe Zaldarriaga, hindi pa natatanggap ng kompanya lahat ng invoice mula sa power suppliers, subalit “initial indications show that there may be an upward pressure for electricity bills this month.”
Binigyang-diin ng power firm na malalaman lamang ang final figure ng projected rate hike kapag natanggap na lahat ng billings mula sa contracted independent power producers (IPPs), power supply agreements (PSAs) maging sa operator ng Wholesale Electricity Spot Market.
Kabilang sa mga salik na sinisilip na makapagpapataas ng Meralco tariff ngayong buwan ay ang pagbabalik ng koleksyon ng P0.0364 per kilowatt hour (kWh) feed-in-tariff allowance (FIT-All) component sa mga electric bills; maging upward pressure osa n fuel prices – partikular sa imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) na ginagamit sa mga power plants para sa electricity generation.
“There is pressure on the generation charge to go up driven by higher fuel prices, particularly of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) used by gas-fired power plants,” ani Zaldarriaga.
“We hope that this will somehow be mitigated by lower WESM prices, as well as the lower energy demand due to the cool weather during the January supply month,” dagdag ng Meralco.
