Biñan City, Laguna.  Mobilization of the The Assessment and Consultations for the drafting of Laguna Business Code was initiated by Laguna Provincial LEDIPO Division Chief, Pinky Villasenor;  DTI Laguna Business Development Division Chief, Marcelina Alcantara; Binan LGU LEDIPO Head, Vange Arriba;  Binan City BPLO Head, Rene Manabat; and NC Binan Manager and CCDO Head, Nora Eusebio-Pangan.

This assessment and consultation notably highlighted the current economic activity, programs, policies and plans of Binan City.

Arriba mentioned that one of the main focus of Binan City towards economic development is strengthening and improving the city’s infrastructure which includes building and rehabilitation of roads and bridges and improving soft infrastructure such as IT services.

Manabat stressed that the geographical profile of Binan City also demands for improved hard infrastructure as Binan lies strategically in convergence with SLEX and CALAX.

Meanwhile,  Pangan also mentioned that there are also efforts from the LGU to equip MSMEs in navigating their businesses through cultivating “big brother – small brother” relationships among local businesses in Binan City.

Plans, programs, regulations, directives, current economic activity, and recommendations were discussed during this assessment and consultation.  All data gathered will be used as part of the contributing basis for the drafting of Laguna Business Code which is expected to enable MSMEs attract more investment and operate in more business friendly policies and regulations.  This will then help boost the local and provincial economy.
