LAGUNA — As social media buzzes with alarming posts about a supposed “alien invasion” predicted to happen in November 2025, scientists and space agencies have firmly denied the claim, calling it misinformation with no scientific basis.

The viral story claims that strange interstellar objects and “unprecedented cosmic signals” are signs of an approaching extraterrestrial encounter. However, space experts clarified that no credible evidence supports any prediction of alien contact or invasion within the year.

According to astronomers, the confusion may have started with the discovery of an interstellar object known as 3I/ATLAS, a comet-like body currently being tracked as it passes through our solar system. While a few speculative researchers suggested it might be artificial, major scientific institutions such as NASA and the European Space Agency have dismissed the theory as unfounded.

“There is absolutely no verified data suggesting any threat to Earth,” said a spokesperson from the International Astronomical Union. “3I/ATLAS is a natural object following a stable trajectory. It will not come anywhere near our planet.”

Fact-checking organizations, including Snopes and Reuters, have also labeled the viral posts as false, emphasizing that the so-called “countdown to invasion” originated from unverified social media sources and not from legitimate scientific announcements.

Experts warn that sensationalized space rumors can spread quickly online, especially when they mix real science with exaggerated claims. They encourage the public to rely on official sources such as NASA, the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), and accredited science media for accurate updates about astronomical events.

While the “alien invasion” idea sparks curiosity and fear in equal measure, it also invites reflection. If intelligent extraterrestrial beings truly have the technology to reach Earth, it would mean their science and civilization are far more advanced than ours. In that case, they would hardly need to “invade” us since any species capable of interstellar travel would likely not need our planet’s limited resources.

As of now, the only countdown scientists are observing is toward further exploration and understanding of the universe, not an invasion.
