Five human skeletons with missing hands and feet, found outside Nazi leader Hermann Göring’s house

Archaeologists have made a chilling discovery at the Wolf’s Lair, a former Nazi military base in Gierloz, northeastern Poland. Unearthing the remains of five individuals, all devoid of hands and feet, has sparked intrigue and speculation about their identities and the circumstances of their demise.

The findings, unveiled by the Latebra Foundation, a historical organization in Gdansk, have intensified curiosity about the site’s dark history. The skeletons, belonging to three adults, a teenager, and a newborn baby, were arranged together near the residence of infamous Nazi leader Hermann Göring, known for his prominence in World War II.

The excavation, triggered by the unearthing of a human skull fragment on February 24, prompted further investigation. Adrian Kostrzewa of the foundation recounted the surprising turn of events, initially mistaking the site for an old bathroom until uncovering ashes, a burned key, and ultimately the fragment. “It was very surprising,” he remarked.

The circumstances surrounding the missing hands and feet remain shrouded in mystery, fueling speculation and theories. Kostrzewa acknowledged the uncertainty, highlighting the importance of ongoing police investigations and the need for radiocarbon dating to determine the age of the remains.

The Wolf’s Lair, nestled deep within the forests of northeastern Poland, served as a formidable stronghold for the Nazi regime during World War II. Hitler himself spent considerable time there, making it a site of strategic importance. Its eventual destruction in 1945, amidst the chaos of advancing Soviet forces, marked the end of an era.

The discovery of the skeletons within the confines of this heavily fortified complex adds another layer of intrigue to its dark history. As historians and authorities continue to unravel the mysteries buried within its grounds, the Wolf’s Lair remains a haunting reminder of the atrocities committed during one of the darkest chapters of human history.

Blinken urges Israel and Hamas to move ahead with a cease-fire deal

JERUSALEM. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stresses the urgency of a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, emphasizing the need to end the nearly seven-month conflict in Gaza. Blinken’s visit to Israel marks his seventh to the region since the outbreak of war in October.

During his discussions with Israeli leaders, Blinken emphasizes the imperative of freeing hostages and providing crucial humanitarian aid to Gaza. However, significant disparities remain, particularly regarding the terms of ending the conflict.

While Blinken’s diplomatic efforts show promise, obstacles persist. Hamas seeks clarification on the cease-fire terms, potentially prolonging negotiations. Meanwhile, violence continues in Gaza, highlighting the pressing need for a resolution.

Despite challenges, Blinken remains resolute in his pursuit of peace. His determination resonates throughout the region, underscoring a critical juncture in Middle East stability.

Important details such as the ongoing violence, Hamas’s demand for clarity on cease-fire terms, and Blinken’s commitment to peace are highlighted in the report.

King Charles visits the cancer center on his return to public duties

London. King Charles, sporting a smile and exuding good health, made his return to public duties on Tuesday following his diagnosis with cancer in February. Visiting a cancer treatment center in London, the 75-year-old monarch assured patients of his well-being, marking a significant step in his recovery journey.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday that the monarch’s response to cancer treatment had been positive, allowing him to gradually resume his public engagements. Accompanied by Queen Camilla, King Charles made his first appearance at the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre, where he warmly greeted onlookers gathered outside.

“I’m alright, thank you,” King Charles reassured one patient, while mentioning to another that he himself would undergo treatment later. The visit also coincided with Charles assuming the role of patron for Cancer Research UK, underscoring the importance of early cancer detection.

Charles’ health concerns emerged in January with news of a corrective procedure for a benign enlarged prostate. Subsequent tests revealed the presence of cancer, unrelated to his prostate, prompting a period of rest and treatment. Despite his health challenges, the monarch maintained private official duties and even greeted well-wishers after an Easter church service in March.

While his schedule will be cautiously managed to safeguard his health, palace officials indicated his potential attendance at forthcoming significant events such as the ‘Trooping the Colour’ military parade and commemorations for the 80th anniversary of World War Two’s D-Day landings in June. Additionally, plans are in place for Charles and Camilla to host a state visit by the Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako later in June.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s spokesman expressed delight at the monarch’s return, labeling it as “great news” and extending wishes for his continued recovery. The absence of Charles’ daughter-in-law, Kate, who is undergoing preventative chemotherapy following the discovery of cancer after major abdominal surgery, underscores the family’s ongoing health challenges amidst their public responsibilities.

The monarch’s swift return to public duties signals resilience and determination in the face of health setbacks, as King Charles resumes his role with optimism and resolve.

Trump slapped with $9,000 fine for violating gag order in New York hush money trial

In the ongoing hush money trial involving Former U.S. President Donald Trump, Justice Juan Merchan imposed a fine of $9,000 on Tuesday for Trump’s online posts that breached a gag order in the case. This penalty follows a request from prosecutors seeking a $10,000 fine for ten posts that not only insulted potential witnesses but also cast doubt on the jury’s impartiality.

The trial in New York resumed with testimony from a banker well-versed with accounts linked to Trump’s alleged efforts to influence the 2016 election by concealing a sex scandal. While Merchan deliberates on whether further fines are warranted for other statements, he has ordered Trump to remove the offending posts from his Truth Social account and campaign website.

Trump’s violation of the gag order, intended to prevent him from disparaging witnesses and others involved in the case, could potentially land him in jail. The charges against the Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential election stem from allegations of falsifying business records to hide a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence regarding an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with Trump. Trump maintains his innocence, denying any sexual relations with Daniels, also known as Stephanie Clifford.

This landmark criminal trial, marking the first prosecution of a former U.S. president, commenced on April 22. Outside the courthouse, a group of roughly two dozen Trump supporters rallied, chanting his name and displaying banners advocating for his candidacy in the upcoming election. Banker Garry Farro, a witness in the trial, provided testimony regarding financial records linked to Trump’s former attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, who prosecutors allege facilitated the payment to Daniels.

Despite his legal obligations, Trump has expressed interest in prioritizing campaign activities for his anticipated rematch with Democratic President Joe Biden on November 5. Among the several legal challenges faced by Trump, this trial stands out as potentially the only one to reach a verdict before the election

DepEd: School year 2024-2025 tatapusin sa Marso

Ayon kay DepEd Assistant Secretary Francis Cesar Bringas, “In response to the recent clamor for a more immediate reversion to the April-May school break, the department has already submitted a letter to the Office of the President presenting other option,  including a more aggressive alternative of ending SY 2024-2025 in March 2025,”

“Definitely the aggressive approach that would end this coming school year by March 2025 would have several implications… We are looking at 165 days full in person if we do it aggressively,”

Dagdag pa niya, “It will have an implication on the school break for teachers because we all know that teachers to a proportional vacation pay (PVP) that is 2 months after each school year, and the PVP is computed based on the number of school days in a given school year, so there has to be a compromise there.”

Residents of northern Israel prepare for potential all-out war with Hezbollah

HAIFA, Israel. Residents along Israels’ northern border brace themselves for the possibility of all-out war with Hezbollah, Iran’s prominent regional proxy. Eli Harel, a former Israeli soldier who fought in Lebanon in 2006, reflects on the challenging conditions Israeli forces may face, emphasizing the omnipresent danger posed by Hezbollah’s tactics.

Living in Haifa, Israel’s third-largest city, Harel, like many others, finds himself within range of Hezbollah’s arsenal. Recent cross-border strikes between Israel and Hezbollah have heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, prompting Haifa’s mayor to advise residents to stockpile essentials.

Hezbollah, bolstered by a formidable arsenal since 2006, mirrors Hamas with its network of tunnels and collaboration with Syrian forces. The group’s attacks on northern Israel, intended to divert Israeli focus from Gaza, have forced thousands to evacuate, sparking calls within Israel for decisive military action against Hezbollah.

Eyal Hulata, a former Israeli national security adviser, advocates for a strategic response to enable the return of displaced civilians, challenging Hezbollah to de-escalate hostilities or face full-scale war. Meanwhile, Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, remains steadfast, asserting that displaced Israelis will not return home.

As tensions mount, the Israeli military intensifies preparations for a potential conflict, focusing on logistics and mobilization. However, the prospect of war spells catastrophic consequences for both countries, with past conflicts resulting in substantial casualties and destruction.

Assaf Orion, a retired Israeli brigadier general, warns of the devastating impact of a war with Hezbollah, surpassing the scale of previous conflicts. Haifa, previously targeted in 2006, braces for potential attacks, with memories of past tragedies casting a shadow over the city’s residents.

Despite the anxiety permeating Haifa, many displaced Israelis view another war as the sole path to reclaiming their homes. Assaf Hessed, a resident considering relocation, underscores the urgency for decisive action before September, highlighting the pressing need for a resolution to the escalating tensions.
