Ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) kahapon, Biyernes, Mayo 26, ang Mawar ay huling namataan 1,740 kilometro silangan ng timog-silangang Luzon sa labas ng Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). Ito ay may maximum na hangin na umaabot sa 215 kph at pag-ihip na umaabot sa 20 kph.
Ipinaliwanag sa kasalukuyang bulletin ng PAGASA na maaaring pumasok ang Mawar sa PAR ngayong Biyernes ng gabi, Mayo 26, o Sabado ng umaga, Mayo 27. Kapag nasa loob na ng sakop ng bansa, ito ay bibigyan ng lokal na pangalan na “Betty.”
Sa isang weather advisory mula kay PAGASA Weather Specialist Patrick Del Mundo, sinabi niya na ang super typhoon na Mawar ay maaaring magdulot ng malakas na ulan sa Northern Luzon simula sa Linggo ng gabi.
“Mawar may bring heavy rains over Northern Luzon beginning Sunday evening. [Along with this,] strong to gale-force wind conditions may be experienced in most areas of the region which may result in the hoisting of tropical cyclone wind signals in the coming days,” sabi ni Del Mundo.
Bukod dito, ang masamang panahon ay maaari pang “palakasin” ang Habagat, na magdudulot ng malakas na ulan sa kanlurang bahagi ng Central Luzon, SOuth Luzon, at Visayas.
Sa kasalukuyan, may hangin nang umaabot sa 215 kph ang Mawar, at maaari pa rin itong umabot sa kanyang “pinakamalakas na lakas” sa loob ng 24 hanggang 36 na oras.
Nagtataglay na ito ng hangin na nasa 215 kph, maaaring maabot ng Mawar ang kanyang “pinakamalakas na lakas” sa loob ng 24 hanggang 36 na oras.
Kaugnay nito, naka-alerto na ang iba’t ibang ahensya at mga lokal na pamahalaan sa pagpasok ng super typhoon Mawar sa bansa. Ang mga lalawigan ng Batangas at Quezon sa Region 4 (Calabarzon), ay naghanda ng mga contingency measures para sa super typhoon.
Bago ito makapasok sa Pilipinas, nagdulot na ito ng malakas na bagyo sa Guam na nagsanhi ng pagkawala serbisyo ng kuryente at tubig doon.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Second Division on Thursday dismissed a disqualification case against former Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo as nominee of the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list.
In its resolution, the Comelec ruled it lacks jurisdiction to act on the petition for disqualification.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said it was the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal that has jurisdiction over the disqualification case as Tulfo already assumed office in Congress when it was filed.
Tulfo, ACT-CIS’ fourth nominee, automatically assumed the vacant seat after the third nominee resigned on Feb 22.
On March 2, the Comelec suspended Tulfo’s proclamation as a nominee of the party-list due to a pending disqualification case filed against him by Atty. Moises Tolentino.
The case included allegations pertaining to “question of citizenship” and “conviction by final judgment of a crime involving moral turpitude.”
Comelec, however, said Tulfo can’t immediately sit as ACT-CIS representative because the petitioner still has five days to file a motion for reconsideration on the recent ruling. If the petitioner does not file a motion, Comelec said the National Board of Canvassers en banc will issue a certificate of proclamation.

Bagaman maaaring humina ng kaunti ang Mawar sa Sabado, inaasahan pa rin na mananatiling isang Super Bagyo ito hanggang sa Lunes ng umaga. Posibleng na mararating nito ang pinakamalakas nitong lakas sa loob ng 24 hanggang 36 na oras.
Ang tropical cyclone ay maaaring magdulot ng malalakas na pag-ulan, na maaaring magdulot ng pagbaha o pagguho ng lupa dulot ng ulan, sa Northern Luzon simula sa huling bahagi ng Linggo o sa Lunes.
Inaasahan na mararanasan ang malakas hanggang typhoon-force winds na kondisyon sa dulong Northern Luzon, habang posible namang magkaroon ng malakas hanggang hangin na typhoon-force winds sa mga hilagang at silangang bahagi ng Northern Luzon mainland, ayon sa PAGASA.
Sinabi ng ahensya na ang southwesterly wind flow at mga lokal na pag kidlat at pagkulog ay patuloy na magdudulot ng ulan sa malaking bahagi ng bansa.
Samantala, ang residente ng Guam ay dumaranas ng pinsala at mga problemang may kinalaman sa suplay ng tubig, at malawakang pagkawala ng kuryente matapos hagupitin ng Bagyong Mawar.

Sa imbestigasyon ng pulisya, matapos masaksihan na nagbebenta ng dalawang sachet ng shabu sina Gali at Cadilina, natuklasan ng mga operatiba ang 28 kilo ng droga na nakatago sa compartment ng Toyota Hi-Ace Van na ginagamit ng mga suspek.

As digitalization rapidly transforms the business landscape, possessing digital skills has become essential for entrepreneurs to adapt to new technologies and keep pace with technological advancements. However, there is currently a limited supply of individuals with these digital skills despite a high demand. The seminar aimed to equip micro, small, and medium enterprises with the necessary skills and abilities to establish, operate, and sustain a successful start-up in the long term.
Moreover, the seminar also provided insights into the key success factors of entrepreneurial educational programs and the e-leadership skills required by various stakeholders involved in the innovation process.

Hailed in the 1960s for her dynamic performances with her first husband, Ike, she became a sensation as a recording artist, often echoing her personal struggles in her songs.
Tina Turner, the earthshaking singer whose rasping vocals, sexual magnetism and explosive energy made her an unforgettable live performer and one of the most successful recording artists of all time, died on Wednesday at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland, near Zurich. She was 83.
Her publicist Bernard Doherty announced the death in a statement but did not provide the cause. She had a stroke in recent years and was known to be struggling with a kidney disease and other illnesses.
Ms. Turner embarked on her half-century career in the late 1950s, while still attending high school, when she began singing with Ike Turner and his band, the Kings of Rhythm. At first she was only an occasional performer, but she soon became the group’s star attraction — and Mr. Turner’s wife. With her potent, bluesy voice and her frenetic dancing style, she made an instant impression.
Their ensemble, soon renamed the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, became one of the premier touring soul acts in Black venues on the so-called chitlin’ circuit. After the Rolling Stones invited the group to open for them, first on a British tour in 1966 and then on an American tour in 1969, white listeners in both countries began paying attention.
Ms. Turner, who insisted on adding rock songs by the Beatles and the Stones to her repertoire, reached an enormous new audience, giving the Ike and Tina Turner Revue its first Top 10 hit with her version of the Creedence Clearwater Revival song “Proud Mary” in 1971 and a Grammy Award for best R&B vocal performance by a group.
“In the context of today’s show business, Tina Turner must be the most sensational professional onstage,” Ralph J. Gleason, the influential jazz and pop critic for The San Francisco Chronicle, wrote in a review of a Rolling Stones concert in Oakland in November 1969. “She comes on like a hurricane. She dances and twists and shakes and sings and the impact is instant and total.”
But if the Ike and Tina Turner Revue was a success, the Ike and Tina Turner marriage was not. Mr. Turner was abusive. After she escaped the marriage in her 30s, her career faltered. But her solo album “Private Dancer,” released in 1984, returned her to the spotlight — and lifted her into the pop stratosphere.
Working with younger songwriters, and backed by a smooth, synthesized sound that provided a lustrous wrapping for her raw, urgent vocals, she delivered three mammoth hits: the title song, written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits; “Better Be Good to Me”; and “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”
Referring to its “innovative fusion of old-fashioned soul singing and new wave synth-pop,” Stephen Holden, in a review for The New York Times, called the album “a landmark not only in the career of the 45-year-old singer, who has been recording since the late 1950s, but in the evolution of pop-soul music itself.”
At the 1985 Grammy Awards, “What’s Love Got to Do With It” won three awards, for record of the year, song of the year and best female pop vocal performance, and “Better Be Good To Me” won for best female rock vocal performance.
The album went on to sell five million copies and ignite a touring career that established Ms. Turner as a worldwide phenomenon. In 1988 she appeared before about 180,000 people at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, breaking a record for the largest paying audience for a solo artist. After her “Twenty Four Seven” tour in 2000 sold more than $100 million in tickets, Guinness World Records announced that she had sold more concert tickets than any other solo performer in history.

Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on Nov. 26, 1939, in Brownsville, Tenn., northeast of Memphis, and spent her earliest years on the Poindexter farm in Nutbush, an unincorporated area nearby, where she sang in the choir of the Spring Hill Baptist Church.

The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) joined forces with San Antonio de Padua College (SAPC) Foundation of Pila, Laguna Inc. to conduct a Seminar on How to Start an ECommerce Business and Consumer Education as part of SAPC’s “College Week” celebration with the theme “Kita-Kita”. The seminar took place at the Music and Arts Hall in SAPC, Barangay San Antonio, Pila, Laguna.
A total of sixty-two (62) students from the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and ABM Senior High School programs actively participated in the event. The seminar began with Ms. Edelyn Aireen Muñoz, a Negosyo Center Business Counsellor at DTI-Laguna, discussing the topic of how to start a business. She highlighted the key competencies required for a successful entrepreneur, the process of generating a business idea, creating a business plan, understanding financial requirements, implementing business projects, and evaluating the performance of a business.

She provided a comprehensive breakdown of the necessary steps involved, including researching and validating a business idea, sourcing products, selecting an online selling channel, setting up an online store, and effectively marketing and promoting the business. He particularly emphasized the significance of leveraging social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and others to attract customers and drive traffic to their e-commerce websites.

A Dutch intrepid inventor is now “growing” coffins by putting mycelium, the root structure of mushrooms, together with hemp fiber in a special mold that, in a week, turns into what could basically be compared to the looks of an unpainted Egyptian sarcophagus.
And while traditional wooden coffins come from trees that can take decades to grow and years to break down in the soil, the mushroom versions biodegrades and delivers the remains to nature in barely a month and a half.
In our 21st century, when the individual spirit can increasingly thrive way beyond the strictures of yore, death and funerals are all so often still hemmed in by tradition that may fall far short of the vision of the deceased or their loved ones.
“We all have different cultures and different ways of wanting to be buried in the world. But I do think there’s a lot of us, a huge percentage of us, that would like it differently. And it’s been very old school the same way for 50 or 100 years,” said Shawn Harris, a U.S. investor in the Loop Biotech company that produces the coffins.
With climate consciousness and a special care of nature a focal point in ever more lives, Loop Biotech says it has the answer for those wanting to live the full circle of life — and then some — as close to what they always believed in.
Bob Hendrikx, the 29-year-old founder bedecked in a “I am compost” T-shirt at a recent presentation, said that he had researched nature a great deal “especially mushrooms. And I learned that they are the biggest recyclers on the planet. So I thought, hey, why can we not be part of the cycle of life? And then decided to grow a mushroom-based coffin.” Moss can be draped within the coffins for the burial ceremonies.
And for those preferring cremation, there is also an urn they grow which can be buried with a sapling sticking out. So when the urn is broken down, the ashes can help give life to the tree.
“Instead of: ‘we die, we end up in the soil and that’s it,’ Now there is a new story : we can enrich life after death and you can continue to thrive as a new plant or tree,” Hendrikx said in an interview. “It brings a new narrative in which we can be part of something bigger than ourselves.”
The coffins cost 995 euros (more than $1,000) each, and the price for an urn is 196.80 euros ($212).
To put nature at the heart of such funerals, Loop Biotech is partnering with Natuurbegraven Nederland — Nature Burials Netherlands — which uses six special habitats were remains can be embedded in protected parks.
Currently, Loop Biotech has a capacity to “grow” 500 coffins or urns a month, and are shipping across Europe. Hendrikx said they have caught on in the Nordics.
“It’s the Northern European countries where there is more consciousness about the environment and also where there’s autumn,” he said. “So they know and understand the mushroom, how it works, how it’s part of the ecosystem.”
