MAYNILA. Idineklara ng Korte Suprema na labag sa Konstitusyon ang impeachment complaint laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte dahil sa paglabag sa one-year bar rule at sa kawalan ng due process sa lahat ng yugto ng proseso.
Ayon kay Supreme Court spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting sa isang press briefing nitong Biyernes, Hulyo 25, “The SC has ruled that the House impeachment complaint versus VP Sara Duterte is barred by the one-year rule and that due process or fairness applies in all stages of the impeachment process.”
Ang desisyon ay resulta ng petisyong inihain ng kampo ni Duterte upang ipawalang-bisa ang impeachment proceedings.
Apat na impeachment complaints ang isinampa laban sa Bise Presidente kaugnay ng umano’y maling paggamit ng confidential funds. Isa sa mga ito, na may suporta mula sa higit isang-katlong miyembro ng Kamara, ay naipasa na sa Senado bago inilabas ng Korte Suprema ang naturang desisyon.
