NEW YORK. As the K-pop sensation ITZY embarks on its “Born to Be” world tour, members of the group are eager to unveil a new facet of their artistry to fans worldwide.

The highly anticipated tour, spanning 18 countries across Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Europe, and North America this year, derives its name from ITZY’s third studio album, released in January.

In an exclusive joint interview with Reuters, ITZY members Ryujin, Yeji, Chaeryeong, and Yuna shared insights into the tour’s significance and their evolving musical journey.

Ryujin highlighted the significance of the group’s solo songs featured on the album, marking a notable departure from their previous world tour. “There are our solo songs on the album… we have our own song on stage,” she revealed. “Working on our own songs really helped to express ourselves.”

Since its debut in 2019, ITZY has captivated audiences with its dynamic blend of vibrant pop, hip-hop, and EDM-infused tracks, coupled with empowering messages of self-love and empowerment. “Our group’s specialty is performance, and also, we have a main message that is to love ourselves,” Ryujin emphasized.

However, the group’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. Lia, one of ITZY’s members, has been on hiatus for health reasons since September, as confirmed by the group’s label in media reports. Despite her absence, the members remain supportive of Lia’s recovery. “She’s trying hard to come back really, really soon and she’s doing great nowadays,” Ryujin reassured, reflecting the band’s solidarity.

The “Born To Be” tour commenced in Seoul in February and will culminate in Hong Kong in August, promising an electrifying showcase of ITZY’s evolution and individuality on the global stage.
