Odiongan, Romblon. Arestado si incumbent mayor ng Ferrol at 200 iba pa sa loob ng Tubigon Square Garden Cockpit arena sa Barangay Tubigon, Romblon, kahapon ng umaga.
Si incumbent municipal Ferrol Mayor Jovencio Li Mayor Jr., kasama ang 200 sabungero ay kinasuhan ng paglabag sa IATF resolution 159-A series of 2022 na may petsang Enero 29, 2022, at Presidential Decree 449 o ang Cockfighting Presidential Law of 1974 sa harap ng provincial prosecutor’s office sa Odiongan, Romblon.
Ayon kay Romblon Police Director Col. Raynold Rosero, nakatanggap ang Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)- Romblon ng tip na patuloy na isinasagawa ang sabong sa Tubigon Square Garden noong Linggo bandang alas-10:00 ng umaga kahapon.
“Despite placing Romblon Province under Alert Level 3, the suspects and the owner were conducted an illegal gambling operation,” ayon kay Rosero.
Ang mga dinakip ay inaresto matapos silang nabigong mapakita ng kaukulang permit o lisensya sa pagsasagawa ng sabong, ayon sa report.
“The mayor is in his last term and he did not file the COC for any positions in this coming election, dagdag a ni Rosero.
Inilunsad ng pinagsanib na elemento ng CIDG-Romblon at Ferrol Municipal Police Station at Romblon Provincial Mobile Force Company ang nabanggit na operasyon bilang bahagi ng “Operation Plan (OPLAN) Bolilyo”.
Nakumpiska sa mga dinakip ang hindi pa matukoy na halaga ng perang pantaya, mga kagamitan sa pagsusugal at hindi matukoy na dami ng mga patay at buhay na manok na panabong na may nakakabit na tari.
“I laud the PNP operating units for this very remarkable accomplishment. May this serve as a stern warning for other elected officials and illegal gamblers that Mimaropa police will enforce the law without fear and favor”, ayon naman kay Brig. Gen. Sidney Hernia, Mimaropa police director.
