Nag-donate ang gobyerno ng China kanina ng P4 milyon na halaga ng urea fertilizer para matulungan ang mga Pilipinong magsasaka sa gitna ng tumataas na presyo ng pataba.
Sa isang pahayag, binanggit ni Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian na ang mga Pilipinong magsasaka ay kabilang sa mga pinaka-apektado ng global supply shortages at mataas na presyo ng fertilizers.
“I am fully aware that Filipino farmers and consumers are currently experiencing the effects of the problem. To address this, I, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, donated 4 million pesos worth of urea fertilizers to the Department of Agriculture to help Filipino farmers with these current difficulties. May this friendly and humble gesture cushion its blow and support them during this plight,” ayon sa kanya.
Idinagdag ni Huang na handa ang China na unahin ang pagbili ng mga signed contracts sa Pilipinas.
Iniulat naman ni Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri noong nakaraang buwan, ang presyo ng urrea fertilizer ngayon ay humigit-kumulang PHP2,400 mula sa PHP800 noong mga nakalipas na buwan.
