Nagpaabot ng pakikiramay ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa pamilya at mga kaibigan ni dating AFP Chief Gen. Lisandro Abadia, na pumanaw noong Linggo.
“General Abadia served as the CSAFP (Chief-of-Staff AFP) in the early 90s and has paved the way for the professionalization of the military and the return of meritocracy in its promotion system. He also led the AFP Campaign Plan ‘Lambat Bitag’ that significantly decreased the strength of the communist terrorist group,” ayon kay AFP spokesperson Army Col. Ramon Zagala sa kanyang statement kaninang umaga.
Si Abadia ay miyembro ng Philippine Military Academy Class of 1962, at nagsilbi bilang AFP chief mula 1991 hanggang 1994 sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Fidel V. Ramos.
Sinabi ni Zagala na magbibigay ng “appropriate military honors” ang militar sa dating AFP chief bilang pagkilala sa kanyang legacy at sakripisyo bilang isang sundalo.
“Muli, ipinaaabot namin ang aming malalim na pakikiramay at pakikiramay sa kanyang pamilya,” dagdag niya.
