The 2025 Slingshot Challenge is now open for youth submissions!

The National Geographic Society, with the support of the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, has officially launched the 2025 Slingshot Challenge, inviting 13-18-year-olds to participate by submitting a one-minute video that presents their innovative ideas for solving environmental challenges.

The Slingshot Challenge offers a unique opportunity for young people to make a difference. Participants will gain access to valuable educator resources, have opportunities to connect with National Geographic Explorers and receive regular updates to guide them through the process of creating and submitting their videos.

To participate in the challenge, students need to follow these simple steps:

  1. Explore the Slingshot Challenge: Access the challenge resources, download the educator toolkit, and learn about the successes of past award recipients to get inspired. https://tinyurl.com/3exmccaf
  2. Register on the Videos for Change Platform: https://tinyurl.com/2cjxxwda This registration will grant access to event invitations and allow educators to track their students’ progress throughout the submission process.

The deadline for submissions is February 7, 2025. Young innovators are encouraged to take part in this challenge and share their ideas on how to address some of the most pressing environmental issues of our time.
