The videos, disseminated by IS’s news agency Amaq, serve to substantiate the group’s assertion of orchestrating the massacre, countering Russia’s attempt to attribute blame to Ukraine, an accusation firmly denied by Kyiv.
“In these videos, we see the ruthless execution of innocent concertgoers, further confirming IS’s involvement in this heinous act,” stated a spokesperson from the Russian Ministry of Interior.
Russia mourns the loss of lives on a national scale, declaring a day of mourning as the tally of wounded individuals climbs to 154, with fears of further casualties as several victims remain in critical condition. Amidst the somber atmosphere, heartfelt tributes pour in as hundreds gather at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, laying flowers and offering condolences to the grieving families.
“The pain of this tragedy is immeasurable. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this senseless act of violence,” remarked a local resident paying respects at the memorial site.
International solidarity flows as foreign embassies in Moscow lower their flags to half-mast in solidarity with the victims. However, amidst these gestures, tensions escalate over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
“The United States stands with Russia in condemning this cowardly attack and extends our deepest sympathies to the victims and their families,” affirmed a spokesperson from the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announces the detainment of 11 individuals, including the four gunmen responsible for the attack. Despite assertions by the U.S. that IS acted independently, Putin alleges Ukrainian involvement without substantiated evidence, further intensifying geopolitical strains.
“Until the investigation into the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall is completed, any phrase from Washington exonerating Kyiv should be considered as evidence,” remarked Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
Fresh revelations shed light on the meticulously planned assault, with gunmen strategically setting fires to funnel victims into a deadly trap within the concert hall. The subsequent manhunt ends in the southern Bryansk region, where suspects are apprehended amidst allegations of torture by Russian security forces.
“We are cooperating closely with Russian authorities to ensure justice is served for the victims of this barbaric act,” stated Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry in response to allegations of Tajik involvement in the attack.
