Naglabas ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ng guidelines sa boluntaryong pagsusuot ng mask sa mga lugar ng trabaho sa buong bansa.
Ang panukala ay itinakda sa Labor Advisory No. 22 na may petsang Nobyembre 2 at nilagdaan ni Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma.
“This Advisory shall cover all workers and workplaces in the private sector. The wearing of face masks in workplaces shall be voluntary,” ayon sa advisory.
Gayunpaman, sinabi ng DOLE na mananatiling may bisa ang mandatory mask rule sa tatlong lugar.
Ang mga lugar na ito ay mga pasilidad sa healthcare facilities, kabilang ngunit hindi limitado sa mga, clinics, hospitals, laboratories, nursing homes, at dialysis clinics; medical transport vehicles, gaya ng ambulance at paramedic rescue vehicles; at public transportation na panlupa, panghimpapawid at pandagat.
“Elderly, immunocompromised, unvaccinated, and symptomatic individuals, individuals with comorbidities, and pregnant women are highly encouraged to wear face masks,” dagdag nito.
Sa kabila ng panukalang ito, sinabi rin ng DOLE na ang mga employer at manggagawa ay dapat magtulungan upang matiyak ang ligtas at malusog na kondisyon sa pagtatrabaho alinsunod sa mga probisyon ng Labor Code of the Philippines, na sinususugan ng Republic Act 11058, at minimum public health standards.
“Employers and their workers may implement a policy requiring the wearing of face masks, taking into account, among others, the hazards and risks (e.g., enclosed space and poor ventilation), industry requirements (e.g.. food safety), and incidence of other communicable diseases (e.g., flu and tuberculosis), including measures to address noncompliance thereto pursuant to the existing company policy, rules, and regulations,” ayon pa rin sa advisory.
Ang hakbang ay bilang pagsunod sa Executive Order No. 7 na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. noong Oktubre 28, na nag alis sa mask mandate ng bansa sa mga panloob na espasyo.
Ang mga regional offices ng DOLE ay dapat patuloy na magbigay ng naaangkop na tulong upang matiyak ang ligtas at malusog na kondisyon sa pagtatrabaho sa lahat ng mga lugar ng trabaho. (PNA)
