MAYNILA. Nakiisa si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa buong sambayanan sa pagdiriwang ng ika-127 anibersaryo ng Araw ng Kalayaan nitong Huwebes, Hulyo 12.
Sa kanyang mensahe, binigyang-diin ng Pangulo ang kahalagahan ng araw kung kailan unang iwinagayway ang watawat ng Pilipinas noong 1898 sa Kawit, Cavite.
“Today, we celebrate one of the proudest milestones in our history—the moment our flag was first unfurled in the sky on that eventful day of 1898 in Kawit, Cavite,” ani Marcos.
Aniya, matagal, mahirap, at puno ng sakripisyo ang naging paglalakbay patungo sa kasarinlan, na isinakatuparan ng mga bayaning nag-alay ng buhay para sa bansa.
“The journey to reach that moment was long, arduous, and costly, requiring the sacrifice of selfless individuals for over a century. Because of their heroism, we now enjoy the rights and privileges reserved for those who have a country they can call their own,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Sinabi pa niya na ang kalayaang ipinaglaban ng mga ninuno ay nagsilbing inspirasyon para sa mga Pilipino na patuloy na maglingkod at mag-ambag sa ikabubuti ng lipunan.
“This precious gift has also encouraged countless individuals to dedicate their diligence and devotion to their respective fields for the glory of our great nation,” wika ni Marcos.
Ayon sa Pangulo, dapat pahalagahan ng bawat isa ang kasaysayan at kalayaan sa pamamagitan ng pagtataguyod ng karapatan at pagsusumikap para sa ikabubuti ng mamamayan.
“That is why we must value our heritage by striving for excellence in preserving our rights and freedoms ensuring that they are used solely for the improvement and protection of our citizenry,” aniya pa.
Bilang huling pahayag, hinikayat ni Marcos ang lahat na magtulungan para sa kaunlaran ng bansa.
“Let us honor our priceless freedom by building a country worthy of the sacrifices made by our heroes. May you endeavor to enhance your abilities and character to give more to our nation. Through our collective efforts, we will forge the path of progress, stability, and prosperity for our present and future generations,” sabi ng Pangulo.
“Mabuhay ang malayang Pilipino! Mabuhay ang Bagong Pilipinas!” ang kanyang pagtatapos.
