Pinirmahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang P5.268-trilyong pambansang badyet para sa 2023, ang kauna-unahang gastos ng kanyang administrasyon.
Ang halaga ay katumbas ng 22.1% ng gross domestic product ng bansa.
Nilagdaan ni Marcos ang 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) sa isang seremonya sa Malacañang, na sinaksihan ng mga piling miyembro ng House of Representatives at Senado.
Sa kanyang pahayag, sinabi ng Pangulo ang paglagda sa budget ay isang “fine Christmas gift as can be received by any president from his legislation.”
“I cannot overstate the significance of the fact that, as Speaker Martin continually reminds me, that this is the fastest passage of the national budget that we have seen so far,” ayon kay Marcos habang tinutukoy si Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“It is important because the budget essentially defines and gives muscle to the roadmap of what we intend to do next year,” dagdag niya.
Kasama sa mga binibigyan ng prayoridad ang edukasyon, infrastructure development, health, agriculture, at social safety nets.
