SPCWD marks Civil Service’s 125th anniversary, honors employees and showcases talents

SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna — The San Pablo City Water District (SPCWD) joined the Civil Service’s 125th anniversary celebration with the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal at Galing sa Bayan,” highlighted by a grand program at Amihan Hotel in Brgy. San Jose, San Pablo City.

The event highlighted the unwavering service and dedication of SPCWD employees, headlined by the awarding of the Employee of the Year 2025 to Robert A. Cruz from the Operations Department for his exemplary contributions.

Present during the milestone celebration were members of the SPCWD Board of Directors: Arch. Michael M. Manansala (Chairman), Balbino A. Escueta (Vice-Chairman), Dr. Ubaldo G. Ciabal (Secretary), Romeo B. Race (Treasurer/Member), and Brigida B. Alican (Member). They were joined by the management team led by Engr. Eleuterio D. Amante, General Manager, and Mildred C. Morga, Assistant General Manager, together with department and division managers.

In his anniversary message, Chairman Manansala underscored the true mission of SPCWD, reiterating that it is “not a business, but an endeavor to provide clean and affordable water to San Pableños.” His statement reflected the district’s long-standing commitment to public service and community welfare.

The anniversary festivities also featured the SPCWD Got Talent contest, where seven contestants showcased their skills in music, poetry, and performance. Serving as judges were Angelo R. Alcaide, noted choreographer and PE teacher at Pamantasang Panlungsod ng San Pablo; Chinee Castro, recognized for her victories in major singing contests such as Tawag ng Tanghalan and Pilipinas Got Talent; and Venus P. Funtanilla, digital newspaper publisher, graphics designer, and painter.

The winners of the competition were Adriann Gutierrez (Champion), Marc Dave Mendoza (1st Runner-Up), and Clarissa Jane Pedraja (2nd Runner-Up).

Committee chairpersons who ensured the success of the event included Gretchen Calabia (Chairman, PRAISE Committee), Mildred C. Dimaculangan (Chairperson, Sports Committee), and Ma. Therisa Cruz (Chairperson, SPCWD Got Talent).

The 125th anniversary celebration not only honored outstanding service but also reinforced the camaraderie, creativity, and dedication of SPCWD’s workforce in fulfilling its mission of delivering quality water service to the people of San Pablo City.
