Hinihintay ng mga oportunidad sa trabaho ang mga migranteng manggagawa sa Qatar dahil ito ang host nation ng isang internasyonal na kaganapan sa Nobyembre, ayon sa ulat ng Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) sa Doha kahapon.
Ayon kay Labor Attache Adam Musa, sa isang virtual forum, mas maraming trabaho sa sektor ng turismo at hospitality ang mabubuksan sa Qatar sa pagho-host nito ng FIFA World Cup ngayong taon.
“As of this moment, the in demand is the hospitality industry because of the need of FIFA, also in retail outlets, tourism-related sector. Tourism industry is a good prospect that would positively impact our workers’ community, because Qatar is also inviting more tourists even after FIFA, and they will continue to sponsor world events,” ayon sa opisyal ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Sinabi ni Musa na kumbinsido siya na ang pagdaraos ng sporting event ay makakatulong na mapabuti ang ekonomiya ng host nation at lilikha ito ng mga trabaho.
“It would totally improve their economy. Infuse more revenue because of this world event,” ayon sa kanya.
Sinabi ni Musa na sa kasalukuyang ay nagpo-proseso sila ng 250 kontrata sa trabaho kada araw.
“In 2020 for a period of six months we were able to process about 3,000 workers. But now, every month more or less about 3,000. Based on that statistics, we will see there are workers who are returning and also new workers compared to 2020 figures, what I’m reporting is our 2021 figures. The gap is quite far so it proves that their economy is booming and the demand for Filipino workers is increasing,” dagdag pa niya.
Humigit-kumulang na 250,000 ang overseas Filipino worker (OFWs) sa bansang Arabo, karamihan sa kanila ay mga household service worker (HSWs).
“About 130,000 plus are domestic workers. The rest are professionals, highly skilled, semi-skilled,” ayon sa kanya.
Ang minimum na suweldo ng mga Pilipino doon ay 1,500 riyals o USD400. (humigit kumulang na PHP20,000).
“For highly skilled workers such as engineers, they receive PHP50,000 or more,” ang pagtatapos ni Musa.
