Umaasa ang Philippine Air Force (PAF) sa mas maraming pagkakataon sa pagsasanay mula sa United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC) matapos bumili ang Pilipinas ng karagdagang S-70i “Black Hawk” combat utility helicopter.
Ang nabanggit na training ay kabilang sa mga napag-usapan ni PAF commander Lt. Gen. Connor Anthony Canlas at USARPAC chief Gen. Charles Flynn sa pagbisita nito sa PAF headquarters sa Villamor Air Base, Pasay City kamakalawa.
“Discussed are the possible Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) and trainings on helicopter operations particularly the ‘Black Hawk’ and other SMEEs which will benefit both parties,” ayon kay PAF spokesperson Lt. Col. Maynard Mariano kanina.
Ang PAF ay kasalukuyang mayroong 15 operational na “Black Hawk” na helicopter na naihatid noong 2020 at 2021. Ang mga ito ay orihinal na 16 ngunit ang isa dito ay bumagsak sa isang night-flying exercise noong Hunyo 24, 2021.
Inaasahang makakakuha ang Air Force ng 32 pang “Black Hawk” helicopters sa loob ng susunod na tatlong taon matapos pormal na lagdaan ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at PZL Mielec president Janusz Zakrecki ang PHP32 bilyong kontrata para sa pagkuha ng karagdagang helicopter noong Martes.
Bukod sa posibleng pagsasanay para sa operasyon ng “Black Hawk” helicopter, tinalakay din nina Flynn at Canlas ang iba pang usapin sa operational matters.
“The two commanders discussed and shared insights on the integration of Ground Based Air Defense Systems into the overall picture of the Integrated Air Defense Concept,” ayon kay Mariano.
Idinagdag pa niya na ang pagpupulong ay nagtapos sa katiyakan ng patuloy na kooperasyon at partnership sa pagitan ng USARPAC at PAF.
