Sta. Cruz, Laguna. In partnership with the Provincial Committee on Anti-Trafficking-Violence Against Women and their Children (PCAT-VAWC), the Provincial Government of Laguna (PGL) joined the celebration of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) that will run from November 25 to December 12, 2022.
To kick off the campaign, the purpose of which is to increase public awareness of the need to give protection to human rights and fundamental freedoms of women and girls, PGL held a parade on November 25 participated by various departments of PGL and other government offices in the province.
A short program was held afterwards at the provincial capitol Time Plaza organized by the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinating Office, together with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes (ECPAT) Philippines.
After discussing R.A. 9262 o Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 and the eProtecTKids Project, the program ended with a message from LGOO VI Florabel Ingel of DILG-Pakil, Laguna.
The current campaign “will focus on the new recurring banner UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines. This theme aims to highlight the powerful impact of combining individual efforts towards a collaborative and united thrust towards a VAW-free Philippines,” according to the Philippine Commission on Women.
