Nag-donate ang gobyerno ng Canada ng 837,000 respirator face mask na nagkakahalaga ng PHP136 milyon sa Department of Health (DOH) bilang suporta sa mga health care worker na nangunguna sa laban sa coronavirus pandemic.
Noong Biyernes, iniabot ni Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines Peter MacArthur ang unang tranche ng 442,000 mask sa DOH headquarters sa Maynila.
Noong Setyembre 2020, nag-turn over din ang Canada ng 120,000 N95 mask sa DOH.
“Canada is collaborating closely with the government of the Philippines and regional partners in the fight against Covid-19,” he said during the turnover, as quoted by a statement from the Canadian embassy. Our collaboration includes close engagement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and its member states to support a coordinated and multilateral effort aimed at limiting and ending the pandemic,” ayon sa ambassador.
Ang mga mask ay ibinigay sa pamamagitan ng pakikipagtulungan ng gobyerno ng Canada, Asean Secretariat, at mga miyembro ng estado ng Asean upang mabawasan ang mga biological threats.
