JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes celebrates 77 years of service and leadership

SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna – Local Organization President Jessa Enrera Estrellado has extended a warm invitation to all members, alumni, and friends to join the 77th anniversary celebration of JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes, the youth leadership organization based in San Pablo City, Laguna. The commemorative event is scheduled for November 14, 2025, at The Coco Palace Hotel (Bar). The day will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a Mass at San Pablo Cathedral, followed by a motorcade, disaster‑preparedness training, oath‑taking ceremony, and an evening fellowship gathering.

Founded on October 3, 1948, and formally installed on November 13 at the City Hall roof garden, the chapter became the third local chapter of Junior Chamber International Philippines. From its early efforts like the “Keep the City Clean Campaign,” which distributed more than 100 trash bins across the city, the chapter has grown to deliver major community development programs. These include the Pag‑Ibig at Pag‑Asa school for children with special needs, a Puericulture Center for mothers and young children, and national-award-winning projects such as “Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise.” The chapter also received Harana, the first cultural award given by JCI Philippines, during the national convention held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, in 1997. The award recognized the chapter’s contributions to promoting Filipino arts and culture, and Harana was held every August in celebration of Buwan ng Wika.

One of the chapter’s most celebrated recurring projects is Kabyaw sa Kalikasan. This annual mountain‑bike race was first held on May 7 to coincide with San Pablo City’s founding anniversary. The event attracted amateur and professional cyclists from across the Philippines, promoting environmental awareness, fitness, and community engagement. Following the conclusion of the Marlboro Tour, Kabyaw sa Kalikasan has become a key institution for cycling in the country, continuing the city’s sporting tradition and providing a regular platform for both local and national riders while reinforcing JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes’ commitment to sustainability and healthy living.

In recent years, the chapter has expanded its impact through initiatives such as “Planting Hope: Go Green, Breathe Clean,” which planted 110 trees in April 2025 in Barangay San Cristobal, the blood-donation drive “Got Heart,” which collected 56 bags of blood, “Life‑Saving Skills Behind the Walls,” teaching CPR and first aid to incarcerated women, and “Zumbabes 2025,” a women‑empowerment fitness event combining health, wellness, and community spirit.

The 77th anniversary theme, “Lead the Now, Shape the Next 77,” celebrates the chapter’s legacy over seven decades while highlighting its ongoing commitment to leadership, service, and transformative impact. The organization has proudly produced a national president in PJ Estrellado, demonstrating its ability to develop leaders who can shape the nation’s future.

All participants are encouraged to wear the LO (Local Organization) uniform for the day-long activities and join in reconnecting, reminiscing, and celebrating 77 years of dedication to service and leadership. For more information, visit the JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes Facebook page.

See you there for an evening of stories, laughter, and legacy!

Bringing vision and hope to the community, JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes’ Eye Care We Care project shares the gift of sight and smiles.

Japan magtataas ng visa fee simula 2026

0

20 dead as Turkish military plane crashes in Georgia

\ANKARA, Turkey — All 20 personnel aboard a Turkish military cargo plane were killed when the C-130 aircraft crashed in Georgia’s Sighnaghi municipality near the Azerbaijani border on Tuesday, Turkey’s Defense Minister Yasar Guler confirmed Wednesday.

The plane was flying from Ganja, Azerbaijan to Turkey when contact was lost just minutes after entering Georgian airspace. The aircraft did not issue any distress signal, according to Georgia’s aviation authority.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the victims were part of a unit that had traveled to Azerbaijan to join the country’s Victory Day celebrations on Saturday, commemorating Azerbaijan’s 2020 victory over Armenia in the long-standing conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.

A 46-member Turkish accident investigation team has arrived at the crash site and is coordinating with Georgian authorities to inspect the wreckage.

Erdogan said the plane’s flight data recorder has been recovered, and the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. So far, the remains of 19 victims have been found, with search efforts continuing for the last missing person.

Footage from Turkey’s private broadcaster NTV showed debris scattered across farmland surrounded by hills, indicating the force of the impact.

“Our heroic comrades-in-arms were martyred on November 11, 2025, when our C-130 military cargo plane, which had taken off from Azerbaijan en route to our country, crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border,” Guler said in a message posted on X, along with photos of the fallen personnel.

Condolences poured in from neighboring and allied nations. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili extended their sympathies to Turkish officials. U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also expressed condolences, honoring the Turkish military personnel who died in the crash.

According to Sozcu newspaper, the ill-fated aircraft belonged to the 12th Air Base Command in Kayseri, central Turkey. It departed from Kayseri on Monday, flew to Azerbaijan to pick up military personnel in Ganja, and was en route to Merzifon in northern Turkey when the crash occurred.

The C-130 plane was manufactured in 1968 and first served in Saudi Arabia before being added to the Turkish Armed Forces fleet in 2010, Sozcu reported.

Rowan Atkinson returns in holiday comedy series Man Vs Baby on Netflix

Countdown begins for fans of Rowan Atkinson as he returns to screens as Trevor Bingley in the new Netflix series Man Vs Baby. The four-part comedy series will be available to stream worldwide starting December 11, 2025.

Atkinson, best known for his iconic role as Mr Bean (1990–1995), previously delighted audiences with the 2022 series Man Vs Bee, in which he played Trevor, a hapless house-sitter whose life spirals into chaos thanks to a mischievous bee. In Man Vs Baby, the setting shifts from a posh mansion to a school caretaker job and a luxury penthouse. On the last day of term, no one comes to collect the baby cast as “Baby Jesus” in the nativity play, leaving Trevor with an unexpected little companion.

The series comprises of four 30-minute episodes, created and written by Atkinson and William Davies, and directed by David Kerr. In the trailer, Trevor is seen juggling penthouse duties while caring for the baby, all while the police search for the missing child, showcasing Atkinson’s signature physical comedy and timing.

Background and Points of Interest:

Man Vs Baby serves as a follow-up to the 2022 series Man Vs Bee, bringing back the familiar chaos and clever comedic situations that fans have come to love. Critics praised Man Vs Bee for Rowan Atkinson’s timeless skill, noting that “he has lost none of his skill” and is “commandingly skilful as you would expect.” Set during the holiday season, the new series promises a festive comedy experience with heart, blending Atkinson’s signature physical humor with a warm seasonal theme. Its short, 30-minute episodes make it ideal for a quick holiday binge, offering compact, laughter-filled storytelling that is perfect for streaming audiences looking for lighthearted entertainment.

Verdict:
For fans of Atkinson’s comedic timing, or anyone seeking a lighthearted yet chaotic holiday special, Man Vs Baby is a perfect addition to your Netflix watchlist this December. The central question, “Will Trevor enjoy the calm Christmas he hoped for, or will the festivities descend into chaos?”will be answered when the series premieres on December 11.

Anticipated Rating:
While official audience reviews are not yet available, given Atkinson’s involvement, the holiday setting, and concise episode length, the series promises a “joyful comedy rush,” ideal for end-of-year entertainment.

Sa 174 bansa, nanguna ang St. Vincent and the Grenadines bilang pinakaapektado, sinundan ng Grenada, Chad, Papua New Guinea, Niger, Nepal at Pilipinas.

Houthis signal halt to attacks as Gaza ceasefire holds

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates  —  Yemen’s Houthi rebels are indicating that they have paused attacks on Israel and commercial vessels in the Red Sea as the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip continues to hold.

In an undated letter addressed to Hamas’ Qassam Brigades and posted online, the Houthis offered their clearest sign so far that their regional campaign has stopped. The message, signed by Maj. Gen. Yusuf Hassan al Madani, the group’s military chief of staff, said the rebels are “closely monitoring developments” and warned that operations would resume if Israel renews its offensive in Gaza.

Israel’s military, which has carried out strikes that killed senior Houthi leaders, declined to comment when contacted by The Associated Press. Defense Minister Israel Katz had warned in September that Israel would respond “sevenfold” to Houthi attacks after a drone strike on Eilat wounded 22 people.

The Houthis gained international attention during the Israel-Hamas war after launching missiles and drones toward Israel and targeting ships in the Red Sea, actions they said were intended to pressure Israel to halt its operations. Since the ceasefire began on Oct. 10, the group has not claimed any new attacks.

Although the Houthis claimed to target vessels linked to Israel, many of the affected ships had little or no connection to the conflict. Their campaign killed at least nine mariners, sank four ships, and disrupted a key global trade corridor that previously carried about one trillion dollars worth of goods each year.

Global Seafaring Impact

The Houthi attacks have deeply shaken the international maritime industry. Shipping companies rerouted thousands of vessels away from the Red Sea toward the longer and more expensive route around the Cape of Good Hope, adding weeks to delivery times and sharply increasing fuel and insurance costs. Crews faced heightened risks, and some shipping firms temporarily suspended Red Sea operations, straining global supply chains and pushing up costs for exporters and consumers.

The attacks also cut vessel traffic through Egypt’s Suez Canal, one of the world’s most important waterways and a major source of hard currency for Egypt. The canal generated ten billion dollars in 2023. The International Monetary Fund reported in July that foreign exchange inflows from the canal fell by six billion dollars in 2024 due to the rerouting of ships.

While traffic has improved somewhat during the current lull, many maritime companies continue to avoid the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, citing safety and insurance concerns.

The United States has carried out multiple strikes against Houthi targets. An aggressive bombing campaign earlier this year was paused by President Donald Trump ahead of a trip to the Middle East, while the Biden administration later conducted its own series of attacks, including using B-2 bombers against what officials said were underground Houthi facilities.

At the same time, the Houthis have escalated their threats against Saudi Arabia and detained dozens of employees of United Nations agencies and aid groups, accusing them without evidence of espionage. The United Nations and humanitarian organizations strongly deny the allegations.

“As a matter of practicality or propriety, we may have to wait for the SC to decide on the issue because our position, that is the one being questioned by the camp of the former president,” ani Chan.
