SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna | September 6, 2026 | JCI Senators from across Southern Tagalog gathered Sunday morning at Max’s Restaurant in San Pablo City for the JCI Senator’s Breakfast, bringing together past JCI leaders from Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Cavite, the Bicol Region and Palawan as part of the 46th South Luzon Area Conference (SOLAC 2026).
The gathering provided an opportunity for JCI Senators from the participating areas to strengthen fellowship, discuss matters concerning the JCI Senate, and exchange views on the continuing role of former JCI leaders in supporting the organization and its members.
Past JCI Senate National President Dodong Sia of JCI Senate Lipa delivered the inspirational message, emphasizing the values of leadership, service and continuing engagement beyond active membership in the Junior Chamber.
A President’s Council was also formed during the meeting. The council is intended to provide a forum where past presidents and senior JCI leaders can draw on their collective experience to offer guidance, continuity and institutional perspective in support of JCI activities and leadership development.
The role is consistent with the broader tradition of the JCI Senate, which was established in the Philippines to maintain ties among JCI Senators and preserve their continuing connection with the regular JCI organization. The JCI Senate Philippines traces its formal organization to the 20th JCI Philippines National Convention in Cebu City in 1968.
The meeting also brought an early political development within JCI leadership, as JCI Lipa Past President and JCI Senator Boy Manguera declared his intention to seek the position of national president in the organization’s October elections.
Manguera’s leadership journey extends beyond JCI Lipa and into public service. A former board member of Lipa City and former vice mayor, he has carried his experience in civic leadership into his continuing involvement with JCI. His years of service in both the organization and the community have shaped his leadership and strengthened his ties with fellow Jaycees.
The Senator’s Breakfast formed part of the final day of SOLAC 2026, a three-day regional conference hosted by JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes from September 4 to 6. The conference brought together JCI members and leaders from the Southern Luzon area for leadership activities, competitions, fellowship, business meetings and discussions on community development.
SOLAC 2026 included delegates from Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Cavite, the Bicol Region and Palawan. The conference opened on September 4 with a Mardi Gras-inspired celebration at the Coco Palace Hotel, featuring the Mr. and Ms. SOLAC 2026 competition, live entertainment and cultural presentations inspired by San Pablo City’s Coco Festival.
The three-day gathering culminated Saturday evening, September 5, with a gala night and awards ceremony at the San Pablo Convention Center, bringing the regional conference’s formal activities to a close before the senators’ breakfast and other concluding engagements on Sunday.
For JCI San Pablo 7 Lakes, the hosting of the 46th SOLAC represents another significant milestone in the chapter’s long history. The organization traces its roots in San Pablo City to 1948 and identifies itself as the third JCI chapter established in the Philippines.
The gathering of JCI Senators on the final day of SOLAC 2026 underscored the continuing role of past leaders in preserving institutional knowledge, strengthening relationships among chapters and encouraging the next generation of JCI leaders to remain engaged in service and community development.
The fellowship also reflected the enduring mission of the JCI Senate to keep the spirit of leadership and service alive beyond active JCI membership. Through fellowship, mentorship and continued civic involvement, JCI Senators remain committed to supporting young leaders, strengthening communities and promoting the ideals of responsible citizenship, while passing on the values and lessons of JCI to the generations that follow.
