TAGUIG CITY | Filipino visual artist Leslie Ignacio Pucay will showcase her Rhythm Series at CONSTELLATION XIV, an exhibition featuring 14 women artists presented by La Galeria De Maria during ManilART 2026, scheduled for October 14 to 18 at the SMX Aura Convention Center in Taguig City.

Joining Pucay in the exhibition are Mari Zhar, Erzil Kho-Morales, Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo, Maruja Panti, Marivel Mari Galang, Ivee Alon-Alon Madamba, Lyke Wolfe, Lala Jara Tuazon, Melanie Reyes-Tuquet, Alma Ang, La Gemina, Caro Mariano and Girlie Urbano.

Pucay said five of the participating artists, including herself, exhibited together at last year’s ManilART with La Galeria De Maria. Their booth attracted attention, and all five artists made sales, with Pucay’s artworks selling out.

For the October 14 VIP Gala Night, each artist will showcase three of her strongest works on her designated display wall, giving collectors, art enthusiasts and other guests an opportunity to appreciate their individual artistic styles.

The group also plans to make a strong visual impression through coordinated formal attire for the gala, which is expected to draw artists, VIP guests, collectors and members of the press. Pucay described the group’s approach as a celebration of women supporting women in the arts, adding that they hope collectors will take notice of their works.

Preparing for the exhibition required extensive planning and production. Pucay said her process began with conceptualizing her pieces and choosing a color palette before moving on to long days and nights of painting, allowing the paint to cure, varnishing, framing and arranging logistics.

For her Rhythm Series, Pucay drew inspiration from the rhythms of Filipino songs across different eras, translating their musical patterns and emotional qualities into abstract compositions. Through layered colors and expressive lines, her paintings explore the connections between music, movement and emotion, leaving viewers room to form their own interpretations.

“Long preparation but it’s all worth it,” Pucay said, expressing hope for a successful exhibition. ManilART 2026 will be her second appearance at the annual art fair.

Pucay began painting with watercolors in 2015 and turned to acrylics in 2023. Her background in photography helped develop her sensitivity to composition, light and color, which continue to inform her visual art practice. She also held solo exhibitions in 2026, as previously reported by Tutubi News Magazine.

ManilART, now on its 18th edition, carries the theme “Where the Line Begins.” The annual art fair brings together artists, galleries, collectors and cultural institutions, providing a platform for Philippine contemporary art and opportunities for artists to reach wider audiences.

For Pucay and her fellow exhibitors, CONSTELLATION XIV offers another opportunity to present their work to collectors and art enthusiasts while celebrating the creative contributions of women artists.
