16th Tilapya Festival to promote sustainable Tilapia industry in San Pablo City

San Pablo City, Laguna. The San Pablo City local government, in collaboration with the Seven Lakes Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (SLFARMC), is set to host the exciting 16th Tilapyaan Festival on May 30, 2023, starting at 7:00 AM. The event will take place at the Sampalok Lake Boardwalk in San Pablo City.

Notable personalities, including BFAR PFO Laguna Emiliana Casbadillo, Laguna Lake Development Authority General Manager Atty. Senando Santiago, and San Pablo City Mayor Vicente B. Amante, along with Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez, Laguna Representative (3rd District), Loreto ‘Amben’ Amante, San Pablo City Administrator Larry Amante, Vice Mayor Justin Colago, and City Councilor Martin Adriano, chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Tourism, will grace the event and deliver their speeches.

The objective of the festival is to promote and emphasize the importance of the sustainable tilapia industry in San Pablo City. As a city known for its seven lakes and abundant natural resources, this event serves as a platform to showcase the city’s commitment to maintaining a thriving and eco-friendly tilapia industry, according to Mayor Amante.

The upcoming Tilapya Festival 2023 in San Pablo City has a primary objective of enhancing tourism in the area. This event aims to attract visitors and showcase the city’s unique attractions, cultural heritage, and vibrant tilapia industry, he added.

The City Government of San Pablo, along with the Office of the City Tourism Officer and the Seven Lakes Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council, recently commemorated the 15th Tilapia Festival 2022: Under New Normal, marking a significant milestone after a two-year hiatus. The celebration coincided with the Fisherfolk’s Month and aimed to highlight the thriving local tilapia industry and other aquatic products from the Seven Lakes of San Pablo City. Additionally, the Tourism Officers League of Laguna, Inc. (TOLL) conducted its Regular Monthly Meeting, incorporating the Tilapia Festival as part of the agenda.
