DTI-Laguna shows support to MSMEs during Anilag Festival

Alaminos, Laguna. The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) continues to support Laguna homegrown micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during the Anilag 2023: Ani ng Laguna Festival.

A number of best products from the clients assisted by DTI-Laguna were displayed and information materials for wider market reach were disseminated. More so, business information and advocacy services were provided to walk-in potential and existing clients during the Anilag Festival. Business registration, product development, and entrepreneurial programs were some of the inquiries addressed at DTI-Laguna booth.

In addition to this, the participation of DTI-Laguna in the Anilag Festival became an avenue for market linkage with potential partners in promoting businesses and empowering consumers. The event was productive and informative, with a positive ambience, providing the MSMEs who sought consultancy and advocacy with the assurance of support from the programs and services offered to them by the Department.

Product display was just one of the highlights of the festival. Anilag Festival is a week-long festival in the province of Laguna, which literally means “harvest of Laguna.” It features not only a glimpse of Laguna’s wonders but also an experience of the unique blend of cultural, historical and religious celebrations of each of its 24 municipalities and 6 cities as well.

Since 2004, Anilag Festival has been dubbed as the “mother of all festivals” in Laguna. It became an attraction for tourists not only from Laguna but also from nearby provinces. When the pandemic happened in 2020, the conduct of Anilag Festival became restricted and in accordance with the required health protocols and was suspended for 2 years.

As the economy and tourism bounce back after a tough 2-year battle, the Provincial Government of Laguna prepares for Anilag 2023 and sees the Festival as a means to strengthen again the tourism industry and Laguna MSMEs. The festival will run from March 11 to March 18, 2023, at the Festival Grounds, Provincial Capitol Compound, Santa Cruz, Laguna.

0

Calamba City, Laguna. The “Klabarzon” society in Region 4A vowed on Thursday to improve the trade and housing industries of Laguna as it brought officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and National Housing Authority (NHA) to introduce the various programs of the agencies and how they can help in the development of the province during its second town hall meeting on public policy held at the Rizal Shrine in this city.

The organization’s convenor, Senator Francis Tolentino, said DTI can help in the recovery of farmers and small traders in Laguna from the pandemic while the NHA can clarify the national government’s plan for residents who will be affected by the newly inked railway project extension.

We hope to lay down the solutions to the problems being faced by the local governments. We also hope that the NHA can address the problem on communities residing beside the railways),” Tolentino said in his speech.

Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez told his local chief executives and constituents that the province’s development depends on the participation of every province and its people.

We are lucky to have been given the opportunity to participate in this discussion and strengthen our commitment for the continuous development of Calabarzon),” Hernandez said.

Calling it one of the richest provinces in the country, DTI Undersecretary Ana Carolina Sanchez said Laguna has an enormous potential for economic growth.

“The province is already a hotspot for economic zones, industry schools, and residences. It is a vibrant economy producing rice, coconut, sugar, citrus fruits, lanzones, and other goods,” Sanchez said, citing the province’s tourist spots and big industrial manufacturers.

She also vowed to continue supporting Laguna’s pursuit of socio-economic development through increased economic activities and industrialization.

“Magtulungan po tayong magawa ito ng mas mabilis at simple para sa business sector lalo na sa mga (Let us help each other do this faster and more simple for the business sector especially the) MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises),” Sanchez said.

Meanwhile, NHA General Manager Joeben Tai, in a video message, vowed to continue providing technical assistance to Laguna in implementing its local housing programs.

“This includes(s) activities such as planning, pre-relocation, relocation, and actual estate management administration of resettlement sites,” Tai said.

“Klabarzon” which stands for “Kabite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon” focuses on achieving economic growth, better quality of education, as well as the promotion of sustainable regional tourism, cultural heritage, and environmental awareness and protection within the Southern Tagalog region.

“Current fish spoilage is between 25 to 40 percent because of the shortage in post-harvest equipment, like blast freezers, ice-making machines, cold storage warehouses, and fish landing sites,” dagdag niya.

“The National Strike Force Offshore Team will continue its operations around the suspected area of the sunken vessel to contain and recover the remaining oil spill, which threatens the area’s rich marine biodiversity,” ayon sa PCG.

“We have seen a significant increase of chronic kidney disease being one of the top five causes of death of Filipinos,” ayon sa pahayag ni Dr. Vimar Luz, board member ng Philippine Society of Nephrology.

“These are lifestyle diseases, sa ating pagkain, too much carbohydrates, sugar, diabetes ‘yun, hypertension, cholesterol, triglycerides, ‘yung mga taba sa pagkain. At around 50 to 70 years old, marami na tayong sakit dahil sa poor eating habits,” pahayag ni NKTI executive director, Rose Marie Rosete-Liquete.
