Nagcarlan, Laguna. Wala ng buhay ng dumating sa emergency room ng Laguna Medical Center ang isang pitong taong gulang na bata matapos itong matuklaw ng cobra noong Miyerkules ng umaga sa Purok 1, Brgy. Sta.Lucia ng bayang ito.

Kinilala ng pulisya ang nasawi na si Leo villa, grade 7 student at residente ng nabanggit na lugar.

Batay sa imbestigasyon, natutulog ang biktima sa loob ng kwarto nito ng maganap.ang insidente. Malapit ang bintana ng kwarto ng bata sa damuhang lugar ng isang bakanteng lote kung saan ay pinaniniwalaang dinaanan ng ahas.

Ayon kay Jennifer Villa, ina ng biktima, ginigising niya kaniyang anak upang magkape subalit hindi umano ito bumabangon. Sa pag- aakalang napapasarap ito ng tulog hinayaan umano niya ito sa pagtulog.

Bandang alas sais ng muli niya itong lapitan upang muling gisingin. Dito na niya nakita ang maraming kagat sa leeg nito na may mga bahid ng dugo at may palatandaan na tinuklaw ito ng ahas.

Agad ilang humingi ng tulong sa mga kapitbahay upang mabilis na maisugod sa ospital ang biktima subalit idineklara itong dead on arrival ng mga doktor.

Sa paghahanap sa ahas, nakita ito sa ilalim ng refrigerator at sa takot na makakagat pa ng ibang biktima, pinatay ito mga rumesponde.

Ayon pa sa pulisya ito na umano ang pangalawang insidente ng pagkamatay sanhi ng kagat ng ahas sa Nagcarlan Laguna.

U.S. NIH – PCHRD Collaborative Research Call for Tuberculosis (CoRe TB)

The U.S. National Institutes of Health and the Filipino Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and Philippine Council for Health and Research Development (PCHRD), invite researchers to submit concept proposals for the RePORT Philippines Phase II: U.S. NIH – PCHRD Collaborative Research Call for Tuberculosis (CoRe TB).

This initiative will provide a maximum of three (3) years of funding to support six (6) high-quality collaborative research projects focused on research in tuberculosis (TB) and related coinfections and comorbidities, such as HIV infection, Diabetes, and COVID-19, to address TB research needs.

This research call is a two-stage process wherein applicants are expected to submit an initial concept proposal and a full proposal.

Concept proposals will undergo eligibility checks and will be reviewed by NIAID and PCHRD. Ten (10) concept proposals will be selected and invited to submit a full proposal. Travel awards will be provided to each project team who wishes to travel and develop their full proposal with their collaborators. All concept proposals must be submitted to CRDF Global point of contact, Ms. Anna Emery, aemery@crdfglobal.org, no later than Wednesday, December 7, 2022 (11:59 AM) U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST)/(11:59 PM) Philippine Standard Time (PST).

Full proposals will undergo another round of joint peer evaluation by the U.S. and Filipino technical reviewers. Full proposals must be submitted through CRDF Global’s Grant Management System. All full proposals must be submitted by Friday, April 7, 2023 (11:59 AM) U.S. Eastern Time (ET)/(11:59 PM) Philippine Standard Time (PST).

3,826 ang pumasa sa 2022 Physician Licensure Examination

Nakapasa ang 3,826 sa 5,958 examinees 2022 Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) noong Oktubre, ayon sa Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Sinabi ng PRC na ang Angeles University Foundation sa Angeles City, Pampanga ang may pinakamataas na passing rate sa lahat ng 51 examinees na pumasa sa eksaminasyon.

Ang nangungunang 10 paaralan na may hindi bababa sa 85 porsyento ng pumasa ay ang mga sumusunod:

1. Angeles University Foundation (51 examinees, 100 percent passing rate)

2. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (108 examinees, 97.22 percent passing rate)

3. St. Luke’s –Medical Center College of Medicine – William H. Quasha Memorial (94 examinees, 97.22 percent passing rate)

4. Cebu Institute of Medicine (138 examinees, 95.65 percent passing rate)

6. University of the Philippines – Manila (161 examinees, 95.65 percent passing rate)

6. Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (162 examinees, 97.22 percent passing rate)

7. University of Cebu College of Medicine Foundation Inc. (66 examinees, 93.94 percent passing rate)

8. University of Santo Tomas (460 examinees, 90.43 percent passing rate)

9. West Visayas State University – La Paz (111 examinees, 89.19 percent passing rate)

10. University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (94 examinees, 97.22 percent passing rate)

Samantala, nanguna sa listahan ng mga pumasa ang University of the Philippines (UP) Manila College of Medicine na si Justin Adriel Zent Gautier Togonon na nakakuha ng rating na 89 percent, na sinundan ng isa pang UP Manila graduate na si Francesca Marie Aby Lagrosa, na nakakuha ng 88.75 percent.

Ang mga sumusunod ay ang nangungunang 10 na pumasa sa PLE na may kani-kanilang mga paaralan at mga rating:

1. Justin Adriel Zent Gautier Togonon, UP Manila – 89.00 percent

2. Francesca Marie Aby Lagrosa, UP Manila – 88.75 percent

3. Karla Joyce Saavedra Badong – Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila – 88.00 percent

Sta. Cruz, Laguna. Umani ng 2022 Gawad Kalasag (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) Seal ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)ang labing limang local government unit (LGU) sa Laguna, ayon sa ulat ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Ang mga bayang pinarangalan bilang Beyond Compliant sa Laguna ay ang mga Lungsod ng Santa Rosa,  Biñan, San Pablo, San Pedro, at mga Bayan ng Kalayaan, Nagcarlan, at Alaminos.

Samantala ang Lungsod ng Calamba, mga Bayan ng Calauan, Santa Cruz, Los Baños, Mabitac, Luisiana, at Bay ay pinarangalan bilang Fully Compliant.

Ang “Beyond Compliant” ay ibinibigay sa mga LGU na nahigitan ang pagsunod sa mga pamantayan na may kinalaman sa pagtatatag at pagpapatakbo ng kanilang Local DRRM Councils and Offices (LDRRMCOs).  Ang “Fully Compliant” naman ay para sa mga LGU na pangkalahatang sumunod sa mga nabanggit na pamantayan.

Ang mga nabanggit na pamantayan ay itinakda sa ilalim ng Republic Act 10121, sec. 11 and 12, kung saan nakasaad ang pagbuo ng Provincial, City, and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils; at pagtatatag ng Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices,  ayon sa pagkakasunod sunod.

Nagcarlan, Laguna. Magsasagawa ang Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Regional Welfare Office IV-A ng OWWA CALABARZON On Wheels sa Nobyembre 18, sa bayang ito sa bulwagan ng Evacuation Center Municipal Compound sa ganap mula 8:00 ng umaga hanggang 5:00 ng hapon.

Lemery, Batangas. Patay ang dalawang fishpond worker matapos makuryente ang mga ito habang naglilinis ng fishpond sa Brgy. Nonong Casto ng bayang ito, noong Lunes ng hapon.

Kinilala ng Lemery Municipal Police Station ang mga biktima na sina Mark Anthony Bethel, 22 anyos na residente ng nabanggit na barangay at Renante Batchar, 41 anyos na tubong Brgy. Talotu-an, Concepcion, Iloilo.

Baatay sa paunang imbestigasyon, naglilinis ng fishpond ang dalawang biktima ng matapakan nila ang live wire ng submersible pump. Agad dinala sa ospital ang mga biktima sa Batangas Provincial Hospital ngunit idineklara silang dead on arrival.

Nagsasagawa pa rin ng imbestigasyon ang pulisya.

Mga suspek sa church robbery sa Laguna, timbog

Pagsanjan, Laguna. Arestado sa follow up operations ng Pagsanjan Municipal Police Station ang apat na suspek sa pagnanakaw sa simbahan ng Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine sa bayang ito.

Nauna dito, nagsadya sa Pagsanjan MPS sina Marjorie Alcaraz Flores, organista ng simbahan at Gerald Ragaza  Lorenzo, 18 taong gulang na sakristan at ipinagbigay alam ang naganap na nakawan sa loob ng simbahan.

Agad na nagsagawa ng masusing imbestigasyon ang mga operatiba ng Pagsanjan MPS sa pangunguna ni Acting Chief Police Major.Silver S. Cabanillas at napag alaman na bukod sa tabernakulo ay nawawala din ang halagang limampung libong piso at  isang unit ng Oppo Cell phone .

Lumitaw sa pagsisiyasat na nakapasok ang mga suspek sa pamamagitan ng pag akyat sa bakod sa likuran ng simbahan at sinira ng mga ito ang pintuan at bintana ng tanggapan ng Parokya kung saan ay ninakaw nila ang pera at cell phone.

Kinuha din ng mga magnanakaw ang tabernakulo at mga pera sa tatlong kahon ng donasyon at bago tumakas.

Nobyembre 6, 2022, matapos ang walang tigil na follow up operation at nahuli ang mga suspek na kinilala ni Cabanillas na sina Rogel Oliveros y Tarray, 28 anyos na construction worker, of Brgy. Sto. Angel Sur, Sta. Cruz, Laguna; Emmanuel Valenzuela y Sarmiento ng Brgy. Gatid, Sta. Cruz, Laguna; Jose James Yaneza y San Jose ng Brgy. Maulawin, Pagsanjan, Laguna; Bernabe Bernante y Adrianong Brgy. San Isidro, Pagsanjan, Laguna. Nakuha ng mga pulis kay Oliveros ang nawawalang Oppo cellphone.

Samantala patuloy na pinaghahanap ng pulisya ang isa pang suspek na kinilalang si Gerald Lagamon y Estar ng Brgy. Sto. Angel Sur, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Nakatakdang humarap sa kasong kriminal na robbery ang mga suspek at kasalukuyang nakakulong sa Pagsanjan custodial facility.

Trece Martires, Cavite. Arestado ng mga operatiba ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) – Cavite ang isang babae na nagpapanggap na lisensyadong dentista sa bayang ito noong Biyernes, Nobyembre 4.

Kinilala ang suspect na si Syrah Rodriguez, isang dentistry student at residente ng Brgy. Inocencio, sa nabanggit ding bayan.

Natanggap ng CIDG-Cavite ang reklamo mula sa mga opisyal mismo ng Philippine Dental Association (PDA) laban sa suspek.

Sa panayam ng Bitag Multimedia Network kay Dr. Narisa Ragos, Deputy Chairman Campaign Against Illegal Practice Philippine Dental Association, hindi maaaring magtayo ng klinika o magsagawa ng dental procedure ang isang dentistry student.

Dagdag pa ni Dr. Ragos, delikado na sumailalim ang isang pasyente sa sa mga dental procedures sa kamay ng mga nagpapanggap na lisensyadong dentista.

“Maaring ma-compromise ang dental health ng mga pasyente at posibleng mag cause ng permanent damage sa oral cavity,” ayon kay Dr. Ragos

Ayon sa PDA, nasa mahigit 50 kaso na ng mga illegal practitioners ang ipinaaresto nila dahil sa pagpapanggap na professional practitioners.

Nakatakdag humarap sa kasong paglabag sa Republic Act 9484 Philippine Dental Act of 2007 ang suspek.Payo ng PDA sa publiko, tiyakin na nakapaskil ang certificate of registration mula sa Professional Registration Commission (PRC) ang klinika. Maaari rin bumisita sa www.prc.gov.ph upang makita kung lisensyado ang isang dentista.

Be good and stay good

The long weekend this last week of October was supposed to be enjoyed by the Filipino families but Typhoon @Paeng ruined all their plans – taking a short vacation somewhere outside their homes after visiting their loved ones in their final resting place; attending family reunions and many other activities that would refresh their minds and enliven their spirits.  Instead, the remaining free time after the typhoon was devoted to clearing the surrounding from fallen trees, scattered debris, repair of damaged parts of the house and drying wet stuff that were soaked in the rain.

Anyway, the typhoon is already over and we are all back to our normal routine again. Some provinces including Laguna suspended classes in all levels for a few more days to give the people, especially those greatly affected by the flood, time to recover from the ill effects of the catastrophe. As usual, calamity loans were granted to deserving government workers by the GSIS and financial assistance were given to the poor by DSWD. The giving of assistance to the less fortunate by the government and the private sector has become routinary and I doubt if this kind of system will ever end.

I have nothing against the giving of subsidies and ‘ayuda’ to the poorest of the poor but let us admit that such a scheme has become a source of corruption by corrupt local officials. Imagine PBBM getting upset upon seeing people in a queue holding tickets so they can be given food packs. When the President asked the Barangay Chairman in-charge why such ticket is needed, the latter reasoned out “baka po kasi may makadoble.” “So, what? replied the President.  It would not make them richer if the food packs given to a person was doubled.” This scenario is common in many barangays.

Just lately, a certified “Marites” in a particular community told me that during the onset of the pandemic, a certain barangay chairperson allegedly hoarded hundred sacks of rice inside their house intended for all the families in the barangay. Not only that, “Marites” also alleged that the said chairperson pocketed a large part of the money intended for the residents of the barangay during the lockdown.  Bad cheetah! This kind of practice is common in many parts of the country according to sources, the very reason why many are dreaming to become a barangay chief. Hmmm…

Who wouldn’t want money? Everybody needs it because it makes the world go round so to speak. Yes, everybody needs money but you must earn it the legal way! Not by taking it from the funds intended for the poorest of the poor.  Bear in mind that no matter how much amount of money you have stolen from the poor, you cannot bring it with you in the afterlife. So be good and stay good.

Ang October hanggang December ay panahon pa rin ng tag ulan kaya hindi maiiwasan sa loob ng mga buwan na ito ang dalawin pa rin tayo ng bagyo. Sabi nga ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), anim hanggang siyam na bagyo pa ang ating babatahin hanggang Disyembre ngayong taon.

Noong nakaraan Oktubre. 29 ,2022 ay dumaan si Paeng sa CALABARZON at kasama dito ang Laguna partikular ang San Pablo City na direktang tinamaan nito.

Ilang bayan sa Laguna kasama ang San Pablo City sa sobrang nasalanta ng bagyo. Maraming pananim ang nasira at itinumba ng bagyo. Bagama’t hindi kalakasan ang hangin ngunit ang volume ng ulan ay tila hindi ordinaryo kaya bumaha sa ilang lugar at lumambot ang lupa kaya nagkaroon ng mga landslides at natumba ang mga puno. 

Malungkot na naman ang ating mga magsasaka. Apektado na naman ang pangkabuhayan. Nasira at nalugi na naman sa mga pananim at patuloy pa ring magagastusan dahil sa iniwan malaking imisin at kumpunihin.

Tila ang iba ay sumuko na pero ang may kasabihan tayo na ang sundalo habang nasusugatan ay lalong tumatapang. Tayong mga tunay na magsasaka ay patuloy na lumalaban kahit sugatan ang ating puso at bulsa.  Hindi tayo susuko.

Tayong mga magsasaka laging nakaasa sa biyaya, awa at habag ng ating Panginoon. Bagyo man ay bahagi rin ng creation kaya kailangan maging handa lagi ang ating mga kalooban. Ito ang aking paalala sa mga baguhang magsasaka.
